Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization - Bernie Martin

My name is Bernadette Martin and I have the privilege of being the Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization here at St.

Dorothy Catholic Church.  Everybody knows me as Bernie.

I am blessed to head up a fabulous group of people we call Catechists who devote much of their time to sharing with childr

en and adults how to walk with Jesus in His Church.  I hope you will be able to meet our Catechists soon.   Here is my story.  .I attended St. Anne parish in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I attended J.W.Hallahan Catholic Girls High school,  After graduation I attended Holy Family University where I received a BA in Education and attended Temple University where  I received my  Masters in Education.  I was a History/Social Studies teacher in the Philadelphia School System and later taught here in California.  I have taught all the grades including Kindergarten.  As a fun fact I won the title of Miss Liberty Belle in Philadelphia held annually.  

 Now in 2020 I am a widow. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.   In 1977 I moved to Glendora from Philadelphia and upon moving here to St. Dorothy Church,   I continued my role as Catechist.  My Mother was a certified Catechist, as well, and I worked with her in preparing students for the reception of First Holy Communion.

In 1994 I became the Director of Religious Education   In 2016 I was given the responsibility of Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization.

I love my work and I love working with all of you.  .I look forward to meeting every family who becomes a part of Religious Education and Faith Formation  I hope I will have the honor and pleasure of meeting all of you.  .I will make it my goal to meet every parish family and welcome them to our Family Team Jesus.
