Youth Confirmation is open to High School Freshman-Seniors starting the 2026-2027 school year.

You must also:

• Be Baptized in the Catholic Church and have received your First Holy Communion.
• Attend weekly Sunday Mass.
• Participate in the active life of the church.

This is a two year program. The date of the Confirmation Mass varies each year. This group will be Confirmed sometime during the Easter Season of 2028.

Important Dates

• Sunday, September 13, 2026: New Student & Parent Orientation at 7 pm in the Parish Hall and Deadline to register.
• We also need a copy of your teen's:
  • Birth Certificate
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • First Communion Certificate

• Sunday, October 11, 2026: Year 1 Rite of Welcome. This event is a ceremony at the 5:00 pm Mass and a very short activity after the Mass.
• Sunday, November 1, 2026: Deadline to pay remaining balance. The total fee for the year is $325.
• The date for the weekend Retreat is October 23-25th. The retreat will take place at St. Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo, CA. The retreat is a required and very important part of this process. There will be another retreat during year two in Feb/March 2028. Date TBD.

Parish Life: To help them discover their unique place within our church community, Confirmation teens are expected to participate in parish life during the program in the following ways:

• Sunday Youth Mass
  • All teens in Confirmation are asked to attend the 5:00 PM Youth Mass every Sunday (including during the summer between Years 1 & 2). This consistent participation is essential for them to truly understand what it means to be Catholic and build a strong teen community and grow alongside their peers. Your family is strongly encouraged to shift your schedule to attend this Mass with them throughout their Confirmation journey.
• Reconciliation
  • We will be asking you to attend the parish penance services as a family during Lent and Advent. The Advent date is tentatively Wednesday, December 9th at 7:00 pm (unconfirmed).
  • The Lenten date will be announced at a later date.
• Parish Events
  • The family should attend occasional parish wide events. Some examples: Stations of the Cross, St. Dorothy Feast Day celebration, Advent & Lenten Parish Missions, etc. More details about these events and when they will take place will be shared with you throughout the year.   
• Youth Community
  • The teens should occasionally attend youth nights and other youth group outings. 
  • More details about these events and when they will take place will be shared with you throughout the year.   

Confirmation Sessions

Year one students have the option to meet Sundays at 3:30 pm, Mondays at 7 pm, or Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. There is limited space available in each group so register early to get your first choice!

The first small group session is for the parents only, no teens or younger children allowed.

There will also be a few large group sessions. Sponsors are required to attend these sessions. The dates of these sessions are:

• Thursday, December 10, 2026

• Tuesday, February 2, 2027

• Tuesday, April 13, 2027

Community Service

Students will be expected to complete community service throughout the time that you are in the program. you should complete at least 5 different types of service. Keep track of what you do. At the end of the school year you will be asked to fill out a reflection sheet.

Confirmation Sessions

Please read through this section of the registration form together with your teen.

Everyone who attends our Confirmation and Youth Ministry events is expected to participate actively and to behave appropriately so that all will have the chance to safely enjoy the ministry activities!

1. There will be respect for property - The buildings and all equipment used should not be damaged, marked, or vandalized in any way. Personal property should not be damaged or borrowed without permission.

2. There will be respect for the law - There will be no drugs or alcohol consumed or in any student's possession. There will be no physical abuse of others or inappropriate language. Fighting of any kind will not be permitted.

3. There will be cooperation and participation - Attending the Youth Ministry and Confirmation events is a privilege. We expect that all participants will take advantage of the opportunity and participate fully in the activities. We also expect that all participants cooperate with the directions of the adult chaperones/leaders to promote a safe and enjoyable experience.

4. Appropriate language and topics - All participants are expected to use language that is respectful and appropriate. Profanity, vulgar jokes, and discussions of an inappropriate nature are strictly prohibited to maintain a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.

5. Cell Phone Use - The use of cell phones and other electronics is not permitted during any Confirmation sessions and the retreat. See the syllabus for more details.

If these guidelines are not adhered to, appropriate action will be taken.

Consequences for Not Following the Rules:

Verbal Warning: The first instance of a minor infraction (e.g., mild disruption, or minor disrespect towards others) will result in a verbal warning, allowing the participant an opportunity to correct their behavior.

Notification of Parents/Guardians: Should the behavior continue or if a more serious infraction occurs, parents or guardians will be notified to discuss the behavior and potential further actions.

Temporary Suspension from Activities: Repeated or severe violations may result in temporary suspension from subsequent events.

Permanent Ban from the Program: In cases of extreme misconduct or where there is a repeated pattern of rule-breaking, the participant may be permanently banned from all future Youth Ministry and Confirmation events.

Restitution and Repair: If property is damaged or stolen, the participant will be responsible for the costs of repair or replacement.

Youth Liability Waiver

If my child needs to take medication while participating in this activity, I hereby give my child permission to and, if my child cannot self-administer, I give permission to the responsible staff members or chaperones to administer or to assist in the administration of my child’s medication. I also give permission to the responsible staff members, chaperones, medical practitioners and medical facilities to use their judgement in obtaining and providing medical treatment for my child should it become necessary to do so. I understand that health insurance benefits through St. Dorothy and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, if any, may have limited application, and that I am entirely responsible for the cost of all medical treatment provided to my child. I agree to reimburse the location for the cost of any medical treatment and related expense incurred.

Release of Liability: As a condition of participating in this activity, I hereby hold harmless, release and discharge The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles, a corporation sole, Archdiocese of Los Angeles Education & Welfare Corporation and the Location, their respective agents and employees and any parent/volunteer/chaperone, from any and all liability, loss or claims for personal injuries, wrongful death or property damage that I or my child may suffer as a result of participation in the activity described above.

Authorization And Release To Use Likeness:

I further grant the Released Parties the right to photograph and/or video or audiotape my child and further to display, use and/or otherwise exploit my child’s name, face, likeness, voice, and appearance forever and throughout the world, in all media, whether now known or hereafter devised (including, without limitation, in online web casts, television, motion pictures, films, newspapers, and magazines) and in all forms including, without limitation, digitized images, whether for advertising, publicity, or promotional purposes, including, without limitation, publication of Activity results and standings, without compensation, reservation or limitation.
