Mass Captains

Mass Captains: When scheduled as Mass Captain, please do not serve in any other role at the Mass.

Before Mass, as Captain, you are responsible to make sure to:

Check the tabernacle for the amount of consecrated hosts in reservation. The objective is to consecrate what will be used at the Mass and not go to the tabernacle.
to set EM Credence table with the trays of vessels.
to assure that the Lectors have arrived and they have set out the Lectionary and Lector's notebook.
to assure that the altar servers have arrived and set credence table and place the the Roman Missals and the Presider's Notebook in their proper place.
to assure that all the Eucharistic Minister's stations have been filled.

At the sign of peace:

be prepared to bring the Reservation Ciborium---only if it is more than 1/2 full. This will count as one of the ciborium used at communion.

During communion:

Towards the end of communion:

If you are not using the Reservation Ciborium for communion, bring it out of the tabernacle and have it ready to bring to the priest. After he consolidates the hosts he will give the ciborium to you to return to the tabernacle.

After Mass:

check for any stains on the corporal and blot clean or change out if necessary.
finish purifying chalices and putting away all vessels and books where they belong.
